Chip Womick has been writing about people, places and things in Randolph County for more than 35 years. He the author of Remembering Randolph County: Tales from the Center of the Tar Heel State and Drugs Did This, stories about Randolph County residents who have battled or been touched by substance use disorder. He has written two children’s picture books, Mrs. McGillicutty’s Last Sunflower and Phantom Fishing with Gramps, and has a fistful more in the works. He and his wife, Sharon, have two grown daughters and too many cats and dogs. Many days, Chip can be seen, ponytail flapping in his wake, as he jogs around his hometown of Ramseur or on the track at the Asheboro-Randolph YMCA.
