Way strikes out 15 over six innings

Randleman’s Seth Way had another strong outing and Uwharrie Charter and Asheboro hand Trinity its first losses. Here’s a wrapup from last week:

 

*Joe Coltrane collected three hits and drove in a run while also picking up the pitching win with six strikeouts in Providence Grove's 11-3 victory over South Davidson. Andrew Thomas had two hits, including a double, along with an RBI and scored four runs. Joseph Ward got two hits, including a double, and scored a pair of runs.

 

*Way hurled a three-hitter over six innings with 15 strikeouts and smashed a solo home run in Randleman’s 6-0 win over Southwestern Randolph. Hunter Atkins was 3-for-4 with a solo homer and pitched a scoreless seventh inning. Austin Lemons went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Riley Edwards was 1-for-4 with 2 RBIs.

 

*Cade Hill scattered six hits and struck out three in Trinity’s 3-0 win over Uwharrie Charter. Jake Little smashed a two-run homer and Landon Mowery smacked a solo home run.

 

Peyton McCollum and Jake Hunter each had two hits for Uwharrie Charter.

 

*Parker Kines had two hits, including a double, and an RBI in Wheatmore’s 5-2 win over Eastern Randolph. Kines also pitched six innings, allowing one earned run and striking out nine. Mason Rich pitched the seventh inning, striking out two, and got the save. Clay Hill had two hits and an RBI. Jake Parks drove in a pair of runs.

 

Samuel Asbill drove in both Eastern Randolph runs.

 

*J.C. Cruz’s pinch-hit single drove in Logan Fox with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as Providence Grove beat Northwood 4-3. Fox had a triple and two RBIs for the Patriots. Jayten Beasley pitched two innings of relief to get the win.

 

*Lucas Smith smashed a two-run homer and Pierce Leonard had a three-run triple in Eastern Randolph’s 17-11 loss to Southern Alamance.

 

*Tyler Kimball and Sean Dennison each had a hit and RBI in Wheatmore’s 4-2 loss to East Davidson.

 

*Ben Mendinger smashed two home runs and had three RBIs in Uwharrie Charter’s 17-5 romp over Caldwell Academy. Brett Smith had three hits, including a double, and three RBIs. Troy Carver had three hits, including a double, and an RBI. Grat Dalton also had three hits, including a double, and an RBI. Carter Brown allowed one earned run in five innings, striking out four.

 

*Brady Armfield had three hits and three RBIs in Southwestern Randolph’s 17-7 rout of West Davidson. Adam Cole got two hits and four RBIs for the Cougars. Eli Gravely had three hits and two RBIs. Grant Little had two hits and two RBIs. Landon Williamson had a pair of hits while Tyler Parks had a hit and three RBIs. Austin Harvell hurled 2 1/3 innings of hitless relief to get the win.

 

*Josh Meadows homered among his four hits and had four RBIs in Asheboro’s 16-6 thumping of Trinity. Cohen Caviness had two hits, including a home run, and two RBIs. Tanner Marsh and Amare Godwin both had two hits. Chandler Macon had a hit and two RBIs while also getting the win with 2 2/3 innings of relief.

 

Jaxson Cable had two hits and two RBIs for Trinity. Gage Griffiths also had two hits for the Bulldogs. 

 

*Atkins was 2-for-4 with a home run and 2 RBIs in Randleman’s 12-5 win over Southwestern Randolph. Way went 2-for-5 with 2 RBIs. Chesney Welch was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI. John Kirkpatrick was also 2-for-4 with an RBI. Sean Miller was 2-for-4 with an RBI as well.

 

Adam Cole had two hits, including a triple, and RBI for Southwestern Randolph.

 

*Carter Brown had two hits and two RBIs in Uwharrie Charter’s 12-2 win over Trinity. Jake Hunter had three hits and allowed no earned runs in five innings. Peyton McCollum had a hit and two RBIs.

 

Landon Mowery and Jake Little each had two hits for Trinity, which suffered its first conference loss.

 

*Jake Parks had two hits and an RBI in Wheatmore’s 9-4 loss to Eastern Randolph. Kines had a hit and two RBIs.
