Wheatmore set a state record with its 33rd straight girls soccer win and Ellie Garrison added eight more goals over two games.  Those highlights and more soccer from the week:

*Brooke Ingram, Noelle Swaim and Taryn Waugh all scored two goals in Providence Grove’s 6-0 win over Uwharrie Charter. Sarah Majors had four assists.

Uwharrie Charter keeper Alexis Marion made 37 saves.

*Ellie Garrison and Summer Bowman each scored four goals in Wheatmore’s 11-2 win over Randleman. Mikalah Wells added two goals for the Warriors.

*Natalie Flores had a goal and an assist in Asheboro’s 3-3 tie with Jordan-Matthews. Jaira Arellano and Natasha Mederos each scored a goal for the Blue Comets.

*Garrison scored four goals for the second game in a row in Wheatmore’s 12-0 rout of Eastern Randolph. That gave the junior forward/midfielder 35 goals in eight games. Bowman had a hat trick for the second straight game, giving her 17 goals for the season. Rashiya Raiford added a pair of goals for the Warriors.

It was Wheatmore’s state-record 33rd consecutive win. The old record of 32 was held by Hough in 2012 and 2013. Broughton has the record of 81 consecutive games (including ties) without a loss from 1999-2002.
