Post 45 has a rare two-loss week

AMERICAN LEGION

 

*Braylen Hayes had a double and two RBIs but Post 45 fell 8-5 to High Point Post 87. Grat Dalton had an RBI single. Post 45 managed only four hits. 

 

Austin Lemons took the loss, allowing eight hits and five earned runs with three strikeouts in five innings.

 

*Tanner Marsh went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and double in Post 45’s 7-2 win over Chatham County. Carter Brown had two hits, including a triple, and an RBI. Pierce Leonard had two hits and an RBI. 

 

Samuel Asbill scattered five hits and allowed two earned runs in 6 1/3 innings with one strikeout. Hunter Atkins got the last two outs.

 

*Hayes had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs in Post 45’s 6-3 loss to High Point. Tyler Parks went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Leonard and Marsh each had two hits. 

 

Drake Purvis took the loss.

 

*Josh Meadows smashed a grand slam and Robert Garner pitched a one-hitter over six innings in Post 45’s 10-0 win over Foothills. Marsh belted his fifth home run of the season and Leonard had a sacrifice fly. Connor Adams pitched a scoreless seventh inning.

 

ZOOKEEPERS

 

*Tyler Peak smashed a two-run homer, his third of the season, in the Zookeepers’ 6-5 loss to the Macon Bacon. Jay Dillard contributed a run-scoring single and Hunter Hill pitched a scoreless inning. Jaden Stockton took the loss.

 

*Peak had a pair of two-run doubles as the Zookeepers split a doubleheader with the High Point-Thomasville HiToms, dropping the first game 9-3 and winning the nightcap 4-2. Jake Holland had an RBI single and Jared Beebe hit a sacrifice fly in the second game. Danny Thompson got the win and Stockton earned a six-out save. In a crucial defensive play, Dylan Driver caught a fly ball and doubled a runner off third.

 

*Todd Hudson’s walk-off single in the 10th inning lifted the Zookeepers to a 5-4 win over the Holly Springs Salamanders. Dillard provided most of the offensive punch with a three-run double. Cole Laskowski had a run-scoring double. Jacob Halford got the win in relief. Jacob Dienes started and pitched five scoreless innings.

 

*Holland had an RBI single in a Zookeepers’ 12-5 loss to Holly Springs.

 

BROOKS BRANNON UPDATE

 

*The former Randleman star, drafted in the ninth round by the Boston Red Sox in 2022, was promoted to the Single-A Salem (Va.) Red Sox on June 28. Brannon hit .250 with 3 home runs and 14 RBIs in 11 games for the Rookie League FCL Red Sox before his promotion. 

 

June 29 - 1-for-4 at Fredericksburg.

July 1 - 1-for-3 with a three-run homer at Fredericksburg. It was Brannon’s fourth home altogether in the 2023 season.
