How the PAC7 tournament unfolded

A look at how local teams fared in last week’s conference baseball tournaments:

 

PAC-7 Tournament

 

FIRST ROUND

 

*Karson Bowman’s three-run homer tied it in the bottom of the seventh and Providence Grove went on to beat Southwestern Randolph 10-9 in eight innings. Lemuel Coltrane was 3-for-5 with a double and Tyler Foust belted a solo home run.

 

Tyler Parks had three hits and three RBIs for Southwestern Randolph. Adam Cole had three hits, including a double, and RBI. Landon Williamson had a homer, single and two RBIs. 

 

*Troy Carver and Jake Hunter combined on a three-hitter in Uwharrie Charter's 6-1 win over Wheatmore. Carver went four innings and allowed one run. Hunter struck out three in three innings. Ben Mendinger had two hits, including a double, and RBI.

 

Payton Mooney had two hits for Wheatmore.

 

*Trinity erupted for five runs in the sixth inning and rallied for a 7-5 win over Eastern Randolph. Landon Mowery, Andon Simmons, Brody Little and Jake Proctor each had a hit and RBI. Cade Hill got the complete-game win, scattering 10 hits with two strikeouts.

 

Stratton Barwick had a homer, single and two RBIs for Eastern Randolph. Samuel Asbill and Lucas Smith each got two hits.

 

SEMIFINALS

 

*Chesney Welch’s walk-off single scored Sean Miller with the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning as top-seeded Randleman rallied for a 4-3 win. Seth Way’s two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the seventh sent the game into extra innings. Way smashed a solo home run earlier in the game. He also hurled six innings, allowing one earned run, with 10 strikeouts. Austin Lemons got the win with two scoreless innings, striking out three.

 

Logan Fox had an RBI single for Providence Grove while Jayten Beasley allowed two hits and a run in 4 2/3 innings.

 

*Brody Little smashed a two-run homer, the first in his career, as Trinity beat Uwharrie Charter 4-0. Mowery added a solo home run for the Bulldogs. Hill was 3-for-3 and Gage Griffiths had two hits. Simmons threw a two-hitter with three strikeouts.
 

Peyton McCollum had two hits, including a triple, for Uwharrie Charter.

 

CHAMPIONSHIP

 

*Lemons smashed a two-run homer and threw a two-hitter over six innings with eight strikeouts as Randleman blanked Trinity 4-0. Welch added a solo homer for the Tigers. Drake Purvis, making his first appearance after missing the entire regular season due to injury, pitched a scoreless seventh inning.

 

Ethan Willard had one of Trinity’s hits and took the loss, allowing three runs.

 

Mid-Piedmont Conference Tournament 

 

FIRST ROUND

 

*Connor Adams threw a four-hitter with eight strikeouts in Asheboro’s 4-3 win over Central Davidson. Tanner Marsh had a hit and two RBIs for the Blue Comets. Chandler Macon had two hits and Adam Curry doubled in a run.

 

SEMIFINALS

 

*Macon had a hit and two RBIs in Asheboro’s 14-3 loss to Ledford.
