Council honors sportsmanship

he Randolph Sports Council held its Winter Sportsmanship Awards Banquet Monday, Jan. 30, at Snyder Farms Restaurant. Twelfth-grade student athletes from Asheboro City Schools and the Randolph County School System were honored as 
“Sportsmanship Recipients.” 

 

Former Wake Forest and NBA star Rusty LaRue (left) was the guest speaker. LaRue is the Chief Operations Officer of Dairi-O Restaurants. Before that, LaRue played basketball, base-ball and football at Wake Forest University, and later played for the NBA’s Chicago Bulls; he was part of their 1998 championship team.
