ZOOKEEPERS

 

*The Zookeepers opened the week with an 11-1 loss to the Lexington (SC) County Blowfish at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.

 

*Dallas Callahan had an RBI double in the Zookeepers’ 2-1 loss to the Holly Spring Salamanders on Independence Day at McCrary Park.

 

Daniel Thompson allowed one run in five innings with seven strikeouts. Garrett Kangas took the loss.

 

*Jared Beebe smashed two home runs and Tyler McPeak belted one in the Zookeepers’ 14-7 loss to the Lexington County Blowfish before a crowd of 1,400 at McCrary Park. 

 

*Alex Lodise smashed a two-run homer and Owen Blackledge got a two-run single in the Zookeepers’ 7-6 win over Forest City. Callahan and Lleyton Lackey each had a run-scoring single. Spencer Floyd earned a six-out save.

 

AMERICAN LEGION

 

*Carter Brown had two hits and an RBI in Post 45’s 7-3 win over Foothills. Tanner Marsh contributed a double. Post 45 scored six runs in the second inning to take control early.

 

Connor Adams got the win, giving up two earned runs and striking out three. Samuel Asbill, Braxton Walker, Alex Martinez and Hunter Atkins pitched in relief.

 

*Atkins had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs as Post 45 rallied for a 5-3 win over Chatham County to conclude the regular season. Adams had a pair of hits and scored twice as Post 45 overcame a 3-0 deficit.
 

Austin Lemons hurled three scoreless innings in relief of starter Drew Harmon to pick up the victory. Marsh retired the side in order to earn his fourth save.

 

BROOKS BRANNON UPDATE

 

*July 5 - Brannon slugged his second three-run homer in as many days for the Salem Red Sox in their game with Lynchburg. He was 1-for-4 in the game.

 

*July 6 - Brannon was 2-for-4 with an RBI against Lynchburg. In his first three games in Salem, the former Randleman star batted .313 with 2 home runs and 7 RBIs.

 

*July 8 - Brannon goes 2-for-5, including a home run, and two RBIs. In five games, he has 3 homers, 9 RBIs and a .333 batting average.

 

RYAN WHITE UPDATE

 

*The former Randleman and current Western Carolina standout was awarded the Coastal Plain League Pitcher Line of the Night on Saturday for throwing seven scoreless innings with six strikeouts. White plays for the High Point-Thomasville HiToms.
