Search is over for new pastor at FBC Asheboro

ASHEBORO — After a year of prayerful consideration and countless hours of review by the Senior Pastor Search Committee, the congregation of First Baptist Church Asheboro gave a resounding “Yes,” to Pastor Stephen Owen on Feb. 19 to serve as their new Senior Pastor.

Owen and his family will relocate to the Asheboro area in early April, which will signify a new and exciting chapter in the life of the church.

Owen — known as Pastor Stephen in the church — is currently serving as Senior Pastor at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Hudson, NC, where he has led the church since 2017. Throughout the review process, Owen continually noted that he strives to be Bible-based, Christ-centered and mission-minded in all walks of his personal and professional life. At his right hand is Emily, wife and mother of their six children ranging in age from 15 years to 11 months.

Owen holds an undergraduate degree in Accounting from Gardner-Webb University, and two graduate degrees from Campbell University in Divinity and Business Administration.

In addition to serving as Senior Pastor at Mount Zion, Owen has also served as the president of the Caldwell Baptist Association.

On Sunday, April 2, current Interim Pastor Bobby Blanton will conduct the new pastor installation service at 10:30 a.m. in which Owen will officially take the helm as Senior Pastor.

Prior to this service, an appreciation breakfast for Blanton will be held in the Christian Life Center at 8 a.m., during which congregants are encouraged to stop in and share their gratitude and well wishes to him

“Bobby has provided unwavering leadership during this time of transition,” Associate Pastor Mark Hall said.
