Local college student selected for national FFA post

NC State College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) sophomore Jazmin Palma from Asheboro has been appointed the 2026-27 National FFA Organization southern region vice president.

That follows a year in which she served as the NC FFA Association state president.

Palma is officially stepping onto the national stage to advocate for students, educators and the agricultural industry across the country.

Her appointment marks a historic milestone: It’s the second time in 30 years that a North Carolina candidate has been named a National FFA officer.

Palma is a student in the NCSU Dept. of Biological and Agricultural Engineering.
