ASHEBORO — Nancy Lee Jarrell Mason, age 90, of Asheboro passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Cross Road Retirement Community surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Mason was born in Asheboro on Aug. 31, 1935, to Ray and Alma Spoon Jarrell.
Nancy was a 1953 graduate of Asheboro High School and attended Asheboro Business College for 2 years. She was a member of Balfour Baptist Church and was well respected in the community.
Nancy was all about caring for other people, always putting their needs before her own. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed cooking and being a homemaker.
Nancy loved being outdoors, planting flowers, music, shopping, reading romance novels and working on puzzles.
Family was paramount to Nancy. She was a good mother, always supportive of her children. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the lights of her life, and she lovingly referred to them as her “babies.”
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Mason.
She is survived by her sons, Gary Mason (Joanna) of Asheboro and Robert Mason (Lynn) of Asheboro; daughters, Cynthia Mason of Asheboro and Sheri M. Millikan (Tim) of Asheboro; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren.; and her canine companion, Callie, whom she loved very much.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m. at Balfour Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the church, with Rev. Gary Mason and Rev. Mark Wilburn officiating. Interment will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery.
