MARY DOMA ROBINSON McCORMICK

Mary Doma Robinson McCormick, 60, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023.

A memorial service celebrating Mary Doma’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, 2023, at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27407.

A reception will follow in the reception hall.

Mary Doma was born on June 14, 1963, in Asheboro, NC, to the late Thomas Jefferson Robinson, Jr. and Patricia Austelle Robinson.

She was of the Methodist faith, teaching Sunday school for more than 20 years at Jamestown United Methodist Church. She also helped with fundraising for the church and The Stephen Ministries.

Mary was a model in her teens and had a successful career in fashion merchandising and insurance before finding her love for commercial construction. Mary Doma enjoyed her work as a Senior Project Manager, most recently for Russco Inc. She has built restaurants and stores all over the country.

The words “kind” and “generous” are often used when describing Mary. Anyone who knows Mary knows that animals were her life and passion. She founded Garnet’s Min Pin Rescue, specializing in the rescue of Miniature Pinschers but didn’t discriminate against the fluffies. Mary rescued and saved over 1,000 dogs and cats in her lifetime.

She was a loving and devoted daughter, niece, step-mother, dog-mom, cousin and friend. Mary was the family member who organized family gatherings, never missing an opportunity to spend time with family for birthdays and holidays — Christmas was her favorite. “It’s A Wonderful Life” and “The Holiday” were her favorite Christmas movies but you could find her watching them year round. She loved making Christmas cookies (and eating them), making haystacks at Thanksgiving, and eating deviled eggs. Her fur babies always accompanied her to family events.

She had various hobbies throughout her lifetime such as racing cars in the Busch League, playing softball for her church league, and always cheering on her Carolina Panthers. She also had a love for travel and Broadway shows.

She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas Jefferson Robinson Jr. and Patricia E. Austelle Robinson, and brother, Thomas Jefferson Robinson III.

Survivors are Bill Robinson of Asheboro; Betsy R. Harris (Henry) of Chapel Hill; Kathy R. Williams (O’Neil) and their children, Joshua, Elizabeth and Jacob Williams of Asheboro; Jim Austelle of Lake Toxaway, NC, daughter Abby Maynard (Mark) and children Weston and Elliott of Dallas, GA; Anne Fox of Greensboro; Jan A. Parker (David) of Greensboro, NC; children, Ellison Parker of Madison, WI; Dalton McCrary (Will).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be to Garnet’s Min Pin Rescue.
