ASHEBORO — Marvin Moore Galloway Sr., 93, of Asheboro, NC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025, after a brief illness.
He was born in High Point, NC, on Dec. 29, 1931, to Nolan C. and Ione Moore Galloway.
He was a graduate of Asheboro High School, attended Catawba College and graduated from NC State with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
He was a United States Marine and served his country as a naval aviator.
Marvin loved going to the gym, dancing, skydiving and spending time with friends at The Flying Pig.
Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Stefano Galloway.
He is survived by his four children, Marvin Galloway, Jr., Nolan Galloway and wife Melisa Blackburn, Lisa Henderson, Ken Galloway and wife Linda; nine grandchildren, Eric Galloway and wife Laura, Brian Galloway and wife Hope, Kelli Avci and husband Ben, Stephen Henderson and wife Krystal, Brandon Henderson and wife Sara, Tyler Galloway and fiancé Allison Coleman, and Kendal Galloway and husband Nate Dzbenski, Daniel Peoples, and Jordan Peoples. Marvin also has 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at First E&R Church in Asheboro on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 11 a.m., to be followed with a Celebration of Life at The Flying Pig in Asheboro from 4-7 p.m. His ashes will be interred in Wilmington, NC, at Oakdale Cemetery next to his wife in a private ceremony at a later date.
