Katherine (Kathy) Diane Presnell Atkins

Katherine (Kathy) Diane Presnell Atkins, 67, passed on to her heavenly home on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, at Atrium Health Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.

Kathy was kind to all. She loved her daughter and son-in-law, grandchildren, extended family, friends and pets. Kathy also enjoyed vacationing at the beach.

Kathy was a 1977 graduate of Randleman High School where she played in the band and was a bus driver for several years. Growing up, she attended Randleman First Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed being in the youth group and singing with The Gospel Heirs. Kathy also enjoyed attending the Wesleyan Girls Youth Camp in the summer. More than that she really enjoyed working there in the kitchen for Boys Camp with her Aunt Ruby! It was always more fun!

Kathy enjoyed cooking and was famous for her pot roast, meatloaf, meatballs and cheese dip. Her meatballs and cheese dip were always requested at family Christmas gatherings.

Kathy was the loving daughter of the late Joe and Dicie Presnell. She was the widow of the late Lewis Dale Atkins. She is survived by her daughter Crystal Davis (Kenneth); grandson Jordan Epperson and granddaughter, Holly Epperson, both of Orlando, Florida, grandson Alex Davis of Asheboro, grandson, Cameron Davis (Kess) and great grandson Tate, all of Freeport Florida.

Kathy is also survived by her mother-in-law Edith Atkins of Troy; her aunts and uncles that were more like brothers and sisters: Bobby Lucas (Lucy) of Asheboro, Ruby Hunter of Asheboro, Brenda Karella (Rusty) of North Pole, Alaska, Randy Lucas (Sue) of Randleman and Mark Lucas (Angela) of Asheboro.

Kathy leaves behind many friends and extended family that will cherish their memories of her.

The family would like to thank the staff, nurses and doctors at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital and Atrium Health for their love, support, care and compassion during Kathy’s stay there and to all those who reached out to her during this difficult time.
