Harry Daniel will be remembered as an uncompromising and steadfast man. He approached every role and task with a commitment to excellence. These attributes were apparent throughout his life as he used his time and talents in service of others.
As a student athlete, Harry excelled in four sports and was a source of pride to his teammates and his school. He earned the title of Mr. Red Raider at Denton High School. His intensity and achievements were rewarded with a football scholarship that allowed him to leave rural life on the farm and continue his education.
As a sailor in the US Coast Guard, Harry embraced life on the water and mastered the skills of a boatswain’s mate. He served his country with honor during the Vietnam War.
As a teacher, Harry devoted countless hours to lecture preparation and interjected humor and common sense into his classroom. He served his community selflessly for decades and enlightened thousands of students.
As a coach, Harry inspired impressionable young men and women to achieve greatness both on and off the field. His lasting impact on them is evident in their unwavering devotion.
As a retiree, Harry continued to care immensely about his community, his country and the world at large. He often contributed editorials to the local paper to advocate for ideas and causes he felt were foundational. He routinely donated to organizations that supported underserved communities.
