Harold Lee Moon

MOREHEAD CITY — Harold Lee Moon, 83, of Morehead City passed away Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, at Carteret Landing.

 

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at Neighbors Grove Wesleyan Church, Asheboro, with Rev. Wyatt Hoogkamp and Rev. Eric Davidson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

 

A native of Randolph County, Mr. Moon was born Aug. 10, 1939, the son of the late Walter Lee Moon and Mamie Ethel Beck Moon Cox. He was a retired brick mason and later worked for the City of Asheboro for 10 years. He loved building things, farming, horses, cattle and riding his tractor. He was “happy-go-lucky” and was one of a kind. He was a jokester and always laughing. His motto was “If you can't have fun doing it, then don't do it.” What he loved most was his children and grandchildren.

 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Moon was preceded in death by his brothers, Grady Moon, Ray Moon, Rayeford Cox; sister-in-law, Cloyce Moon; and granddaughter, Katie Christine Boswell.

 

Survivors include his wife, Janice Davidson Moon; daughters, Carrie Moon Branson (Tom) of Beaufort, Carmen Moon Key (Brian) of Asheboro; brother, James Moon (Elizabeth) of Burlington; grandchildren, Holden Lee Branson, Hunter Thomas Branson (Sydney), Haven Ruth Branson, Wilson James Boswell; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Moon of Albemarle, Rachel Cox of Asheboro.

 

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the church, prior to the funeral service.
