Frank B. Brake

ASHEBORO — Francis "Frank" Bennett Brake, 82, of Asheboro, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023, at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro.
 

Frank was born on March 9, 1941, in Rocky Mount (Edgecombe County), to Jasper Bennett Brake and Frances Quigley Brake. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Heidi Michelle Brake Temple, and his brother John Michael Brake.

 

Frank is survived by his loving wife, Molly Roberts Brake; sons, Francis Bennett Brake, Jr., and wife Susan of Swarthmore, PA, and Todd Andrew Brake of Newport News, VA; grandchildren, Jack, Charlotte and Will Brake of Swarthmore, PA; stepsons, Lee Roberts and wife Sarahbeth and their daughter Eleanor; Stewart Roberts and wife Cheryl and their daughters Josie and Grace, all of Asheboro, NC; brother, Jack Brake and wife Kathryn; niece, Shepherd Brake Yenny and husband Chris, and great-nephew, Christopher Yenny and wife Kaleigh; great-great-nephew, Mac Yenny; great-nephew, Frank Yenny and wife Charlotte; niece, Anna Brake Osterhout and husband Mark, and great-nephew, Ben, great-niece Kathryn; sister, Helen Brake McGrath; sister-in-law, Amy Brake, and nephew Jesse Brake; and son-in-law, Craig Temple.
 

Frank graduated from Rocky Mount High School, Class of 1958, and later earned degrees from Belmont Abbey College in Belmont; Central Michigan University, an MA in Business Management; Industrial College of the Armed Forces, and the Joint Forces Staff College.

He retired as a US Air Force Colonel, Managing Director for International Operations at Newport News Shipbuilding, and Vice president/Chief Operating Officer and Corporate Secretary-Treasurer of Global Research and Development, Inc. He took great pleasure in service on the Senior Executive Resource Board for the College of William and Mary Graduate School of Business.

 

The family extends their gratitude to all nursing personnel of Hall 100 for the exceptional care provided to Frank. Special thanks also go the the sitters who became his friends: April, Cheryl, Rita and Treeann.
 

A private graveside service and reception will be held on Frank's birthday, March 9, 2024.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the charity of one's choice.
