Betty Lou Needham Presnell, age 91, of Asheboro, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Clapp’s Nursing Home in Asheboro.
This was the first day of summer and her favorite time of the year. We honor and celebrate the beautiful, faithful life she lived — full of love, quiet strength and gentle joy — and the countless cherished memories she gave us that we will treasure forever.
The family will receive friends between 12-2 p.m. at the home of Lowell and Betty on Saturday, June 27, 2026. Please call 336-628-4546 for the home address.
Betty was born on Oct. 23, 1934, in Montgomery County, the daughter of the late Charlie Lee Needham and Lilly Owens Needham.
Betty retired from the Randolph County School System as a film librarian after 25 years of service.
She loved to cook for her family and found much joy in watching God’s creation: Bunnies in the yard, birds at the feeder, deer in the edge of the yard, and especially the hummingbirds. She kept careful notes in her calendar of their expected spring arrivals and fall departures.
Betty didn’t just live her years — she filled them with quiet, steady loved that touched everyone around her. She turned ordinary days into something special, and we will miss her every single day until we are united in heaven.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Grace Mae Needham, and her brothers, Billy Needham and Bobby Needham.
Betty is survived by her husband of 71 years, Lowell Presnell; son, Larry Presnell and wife Renee; daughter, Karan Tedder and husband Randy; grandchildren, Justin Foley and wife Chappell, Patrick Foley and wife Erin, Hannah Stump and husband Jonathan, Tye Presnell, Aaron Presnell and wife Gabrielle, Sarah Petty and husband Colby; and great grandchildren, Anna Foley, Logan Foley, Sutton Foley, Beckett Foley and Ezra Presnell.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Clapp’s Nursing Home and Hospice of Randolph.
