Bessie "Marie" Swaringen, born on Oct. 14, 1933, in Randolph County, North Carolina, was a beacon of light in the lives of those who knew her. She was an inspiring woman of faith whose dedication and love left an indelible mark on her family, friends and community. Her supportive nature and unwavering faith in the Lord were cornerstones of her character, shining through in all that she did.
Marie's life was a testament to her strength, determination and loving spirit. She began her career at Acme-McCrary Hosiery Mill as a "looper" in production at the tender age of 17. Through hard work and commitment, she rose through the ranks to become the Quality Control Manager. She was not just an employee; she was a pillar of the workplace, known for her attention to detail, spirit of excellence and, above all, her dedication.
While her professional life was fulfilling, it was her personal life that truly defined Marie. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a doting grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Her mischievous nature and playful antics brought laughter and light into their lives, making each family gathering a memorable event.
Marie's faith was the compass that guided her life. From Clearview Baptist Church and Oakhurst Baptist Church, both in Asheboro, and later to CrossRoads Baptist Church in New Bern, she was a dedicated servant of the Lord. The verse in Proverbs 31:25 perfectly encapsulates Marie's spirit: "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come."
Marie is survived by her loving family, to include her daughter, Judy Swaringen Bulla (Greg); her brothers, Donald Sheron and Terry Sheron; her grandchildren, Jason Bulla (Barbara) and Jodi Blalock (Jeremy); great-grandchildren, Ryan Waters (Margo), Ashley Lowe (John), Jordyn Blalock, Jaylin Blalock and Jace Blalock; great-great-grandchildren, Noah Carroll, Peyton Carroll, Nathan Waters and Haven Waters; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, E.J., and her parents, Albert and Bessie Sheron; and brothers, Rev. Jack Sheron and Bobby Sheron.
