Rock'n the Park show on Friday guaranteed to have a LOT of Heart

ASHEBORO — The Rock’n the Park series returns to Bicentennial Park in downtown Asheboro on Friday night, hopefully with some good weather. It will be a real heart breaker if it doesn’t.

But it will also be a Heart Breaker if it does, as that’s because the band coming up is Heart Breaker: The Ultimate Heart Tribute Band.

This group describes itself as “a national touring act based in North Carolina with the goal of playing each song with love, respect and a true passion for the original material. We bring you not only Heart’s greatest chart-topping hits (“Alone,” “These Dreams,” “Crazy on You,” “Barracuda”) but you also get a taste of the great Led Zeppelin songs that inspired Heart.”

At the heart of the group are “Ann and Nancy Wilson” — in this case, Staci McBeth of Winston-Salem and Joan Burton or Myrtle Beach. Both are veterans in the music business.

McBeth is a vocalist with the range of Ann Wilson, Pat Benatar, Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin and has opened for the likes of Vince Gill, Brett Michaels and more.

She started singing at the young age of 4 in church alongside her mother, Lena, and was inspired by her mother to sing every chance she got. Through school all the way to college, she sang in choir and excelled to regional, national and state levels and ranked 1st chair in the state of Virginia.

Her musical influences are Heart, Led Zeppelin, Elton John, Aretha Franklin and Bonnie Raitt.

Burton can play guitar or piano and has opened for the likes of Peter Frampton and Electric Light Orchestra.

She is a veteran in the music business, having played in many musical projects over the years, and like McBeth is a strong vocalist.

Her musical influences include The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Elton John, Yes, Jethro Tull and Heart.

Kenny Harrell will be on lead guitar, Troy Jordan on bass, Kevin Brown on keyboard / guitar / vocals and Corky McClellan on drums.
