The NC Pottery Center is offering two Valentine’s classes, one to make a Valentine’s magnet and another to create a SweetHeart dish
SEAGROVE — The NC Pottery Center in Seagrove is offering a way to combine Valentine’s Day with some pottery crafting skills through a pair of classes in January.
On Friday, Jan. 23, participants can create a Valentine magnet.
For $7, each crafter gets 30 minutes to choose from a variety of glazes to paint a precut bisque heart that will later be fired and ready for delivery in 2 to 3 weeks.
Each heart is 3.75 inches in size and will be fitted with a magnet following the preparation process.
Each participant will be given the tools to complete the task with an experienced ceramist nearby to answer questions.
If you need more than one heart, you can sign up for more than one session, with a maximum of four per person.
Later in the month, on Saturday, Jan. 31, participants can sign up to work on a 5- to 6-inch pottery “SweetHeart” dish.
In this beginner-friendly, hand-building workshop for ages 12 and over, learn to work with slab clay, letter stamps and colorants to create your own messages.
The resultant work will be fired with a food-safe clear glaze and ready for pick up by Valentine’s Day.
The cost for that workshop is $35 per person.
In either session, kids under 16 have to be accompanied by an adult at all times.
You can sign up and get more information at www.shopncpotterycenter.org.
