Dog Festival to celebrate ... dogs

LEVEL CROSS — Ruff Love Rescue, a large and respected rescue group that has been serving the community over two decades, is hosting the 26th Annual DogFest at the Level Cross Ballfield, 112 Branson Mill Road, on Sunday Oct. 8, from 1-4 p.m.

Raindate is Sunday, Oct 15.

Sue Rogers is the founder and leader of this group of volunteers. Charme Blanchard will emcee the event, which is expected to be attended by a number of rescue groups and vendors. That includes dogs from the Randolph County Animal Shelter.

Ruff Love Rescue makes this a fun time for the community. The event is free and there are lots of fun things for kids, dogs and adults alike, including free face painting, food, contests, rescues, vendors, and lots and lots of dogs! Deejay BJ Saunders will also be on hand. Bring your dog for a $10 nail trim or a $25 microchip.

There will be a 50/50 raffle and a raffle for prizes. All proceeds will benefit Ruff Love Rescue.

The public is welcome to bring their well-behaved dogs on non-retractable leashes. Bring chairs but no coolers. The first 50 people get a free goodie bag at the gate.

There will be adoptable rescue dogs from Ruff Love, the Animal Shelter and other rescues.

The event is free but donations are welcome.
