Battle of the Band happening Sept. 16

ASHEBORO — A Battle of the Bands will be held Saturday, Sept. 16, beginning at 11 a.m. at Lee J. Stone Stadium at Asheboro High School. There will also be a Battle of the Drum Lines.

 

School bands participating include Dudley of Greensboro, Carver of Winston-Salem, Northeast Guilford and High Point Central. Others may come on board.

 

Judges will be former band directors along with Asheboro City Schools Superintendent Aaron Woody.

 

In addition to the bands, national recording artist St. LaMoor will be performing at the event.

 

Russell E. Murphy Camps is the presenting organization. Co-sponsors are the Asheboro Police Department, Asheboro Fire Department, Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and the NC Highway Patrol. 

 

Volunteers are needed. Anyone wishing to help should contact Willie Gladden at 336-706-0923.

 

Advance ticket prices are $5 for children and students, $8 for adults. Tickets bought the day of the event will be $7 for children and students, $10 for adults.

— PIP Printing, 1499 N. Fayetteville St., Asheboro.

— The Sports Attic, 520 E. Dixie Drive, Asheboro.

— Real Cutz Barber Shop, 801 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Asheboro.

 

All proceeds from the Battle of the Bands will go toward scholarships for students at Asheboro High School.
