A rundown of local Christmas parades

This week, the city of Asheboro and several Randolph County towns will celebrate the coming of Christmas with the pageantry of Christmas parades. Where, when, what and more — here’s a look at what’s coming up, in sequential order.

 

Thursday, Dec. 1, 7-9 p.m.

Randleman Christmas Parade

- WHERE: South Main Street, Randleman.

Enjoy the area’s first Christmas Parade and the lights of Commerce Square in Downtown Randleman. See holiday floats, cars and Santa Claus himself.

 

Friday, Dec. 2, 7 p.m.

Asheboro Christmas Parade

- WHERE: Starts at corner of Sunset Avenue and Church Street. Heads east on Sunset and then south on Fayetteville Street, ending on Kivett Street.

The Asheboro Christmas Parade is filled with bands, decorated floats and Santa Claus. Many of the downtown shops and restaurants will be open. Judges will review the entries from the Review Stand on Sunset Avenue. Cash prizes (1st, 2nd, 3rd) are awarded for Best Float and Best Band. There will also be an award to Overall Best Entry. 

 

Saturday, Dec. 3, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

Franklinville Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Celebration

- WHERE: Riverside Park and Main Street.

The Franklinville Christmas celebration begins with Breakfast with Santa at Franklinville Diner from 8-10 a.m. The Franklinville Christmas Parade begins at 10:30 a.m. with bands, floats and a photo area. Continue celebrating the Christmas season with caroling in the park during the Christmas Tree Lighting event at Riverside Park at 4:30 p.m. with a FREE bicycle giveaway (must be present to win). 

 

Saturday, Dec. 3, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

Ramseur’s 4th Annual Christmas on Main Street

- WHERE: Main Street. 

Includes arts, crafts, food and more. Christmas Parade begins at 5 p.m. on the front lawn of town hall and the tree lighting will follow the parade.

 

Saturday, Dec. 3, 2:30-6 p.m.

Liberty Chamber Annual Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Festival

- WHERE: Greensboro Street and Depot Street. 

The Christmas Parade will start at 2:30 on Greensboro Street followed by the Tree Lighting Festival on Depot Street. Listen to live music, shop local vendors at our Holiday Market, get your picture taken with Santa for free and enjoy free hot dogs, hot cocoa and roasting s’mores on the open fire! Kid Zone Area includes bounce houses and more.

 

Saturday, Dec. 3, 5 p.m.

Seagrove Christmas Parade event

- WHERE: US 220 from Quik Chek to East Avenue. 

The parade lineup will begin at 4:30 and the parade at 5 p.m. An open house at Luck’s Cannery has cookies, hot chocolate and children activities like face painting and fishing for prizes, plus photos with Santa.

 

Sunday, Dec. 4, 4:30-6 p.m.

Archdale Christmas Parade 

    - WHERE: Main Street. 

The Christmas Parade will include floats by area businesses, high school marching bands, vintage cars, beauty queens, dance troupes and Santa.
